Das Publikum ist eingeladen\, an den Auss tellungstagen an der Herstellung\, Bearbeitung und Veröffentlichung eines »Col lective Memory Atlas« mitzuwirken. Wie wird das Bild einer Stadt konstruier t? Wer sind die Autor*innen der großen Sammlung von mündlichen\, textlichen und visuellen Daten\, die in ihr zusammentreffen? Können Städte gelesen werden? Und falls ja\, wer kontrolliert ihre Interpretation?Ausgangspunkt der Ausstel lung ist die Vorstellung von Städten als räumliche Archive\, die eine Vielzahl an Bedeutungen\, nebeneinandergestellten Narrativen und sich verschiebend en Hierarchien umfassen. Sie stellt acht Kunstwerke in den Mittelpunkt\, d ie mit dieser Metapher arbeiten und die gleichzeitig die Spannung und den Widerstand gegen die Regeln der Klassifikation und Kodifikation hervorhebe n\, mit denen die Stadt und ihre Repräsentationsskalen verflacht werden. Die künstlerischen Entwürfe eröffnen den Raum für neue Interpretationen\, einen dialogischen Ko ntext\, in dessen Rahmen zeitgenössische\, imaginäre und neu entstehende Geschi chten/Narrationen gesammelt\, visualisiert\, erinnert wie auch aus unserem täglichen Leben gelöscht werden.Neben der Auswahl künstlerischer Positionen\, die d en Ausstellungsdiskurs formulieren\, reflektiert die kuratorische Strategi e über die Methode des »cultural mapping« als eine kulturelle Recherche\, als gru ndsätzlich interdisziplinäres Forschungsphänomen: eine Kombination aus hybriden\ , gemischten\, multimodalen oder alternativen Diskursen\, in der die (Land -)Karte und die mit ihr verbundenen Texte als legitime Formen der akademis chen und öffentlichen Untersuchung\, kulturellen Interessenvertretung und Mob ilisierung von Wissen eingesetzt werden.[1]Diesem Phänomen folgend\, ist der partizipative Aspekt des »cultural mapping« als eine Plattform für ein Zusamment reffen von Menschen\, das Teilen (und Bewältigen) der zentralen Fragen in Hi nblick auf ihre Räume und die gemeinsame Herstellung von Bedeutung für uns von be sonderem Interesse. Es schafft die Möglichkeit\, verschiedene\, auf die multi plen Dimensionen von Kultur bezogene Agenden zu artikulieren und zu verhan deln. »Das Teilen von technischem Wissen\, Informationen und gemeinschaftli chen Räumen kann Verständnis und gegenseitigen Respekt vergrößern\; die geteilte Interpretation von Raum hat die Überlagerung und Verwobenheit von ?place-ma king? sichtbar gemacht und damit die Idee der sich über die Zeit verändernden Ide ntität eingeführt.«[2]Das Konzept für »Mapping Berlin« wurde von Andrzej Raszyk entworf en und stellt eine Weiterentwicklung früherer Projekte um das Thema der Visuali sierung von Daten und Geschichte dar\, das vom kuratorischen Team Berliner pool Arts Network (Andrzej Raszyk &\; Paz Ponce) recherchiert wurde. Für die sen Anlass luden die Kurator*innen acht Berliner Künstler*innen aus ihrem Netzw erk ein\, Kunstwerke für die Ausstellung zu präsentieren\, sowie drei Gastreferen t*innen für das partizipative Veranstaltungsprogramm.Die ausstellenden Künstler*inne n sind Roland Fuhrmann\, Michael Johansson\, Margret Holz\, Christine Kiso rsy\, Katrin von Lehmann\, Sara Wallgren\, Marcelina Wellmer und Sencer Va rdarman.Künstlerische Beiträge für das Veranstaltungsprogramm liefern Rebecca Agnes\, Stefania Migliorati und Ame Zek.Die kuratorische Praxis von Berlinerpool k onzentrierte sich in den letzten drei Jahren auf die Schaffung eines »Archi vs des Jetzt«\; dabei entstand ein Netzwerk von Expert*innen (Künstler*innen\, K urator*innen und Manager*innen von Kunstinitiativen)\, die Teil des tägliche n Kunstbetriebs der Stadt sind. Berlinerpool versteht den Prozess des Arch ivierens als ein kollektives Projekt und eine Architektur der Begegnung\, und konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung und Prüfung experimenteller Formen de r Mediation\, basierend auf kooperativen und interdisziplinären Arbeitsmetho den. Prozessualität und fortlaufende Recherche bilden dabei die Achse\, um M enschen\, Projekte und Ideen durch lokale und internationale Kollaboration aktiv zu engagieren und zu mobilisieren.Die Organisation verwirklichte bi sher unter anderem folgende Projekte: »Pflegeanweisungen. The art of living together« (Galerie Wedding\, 12.12.2014 ? 24.01.2015\, kuratiert von Paz P once und Andrzej Raszyk)\, ein Ausstellungs- und Rechercheprojekt\, das di e kooperative Kultur der Künstler*innen-Interessenvertretungen in Berlin als ei n (Öko-)System der Zuwendung kartografiert\, das in sich selbst Modelle des Zusammenlebens und -arbeitens in Berlins soziokulturellem Umfeld schafft. »Mapping Contemporary Concerns« ist eine Serie von Podiumsdiskussionen\, di e aus dem Bedürfnis nach der Diskussion gegenwärtiger Themen im Kontext der Berli ner Kunstszene entstanden und die Frage aufwerfen\, ob man von einem poten ziellen »Vokabular« der Berliner Kunstproduktion sprechen kann ? in Bezug au f das Medium\, die Herangehensweisen\, die Themen\, Materialien oder Quell en\, mit denen die Schaffenden sich auseinandersetzen beziehungsweise die sie inspirieren.Für die aktuelle Forschung zum Thema des »cultural mapping« als k ulturelle Recherche folgt »Mapping Berlin« der Genealogie vorangegangener Ar beiten\, durchgeführt von Teams bestehend aus Soziolog*innen und Politikwissens chaftler*innen (Institut für Strategieentwicklung ? Who is the author of the large collection of oral\, textual and visua l data meeting in it? Can cities be read? If so\, who holds control over t heir interpretation?This exhibition departs from the notion of cities as s patial archives embracing a multiplicity of meanings\, juxtaposed narrativ es and shifting hierarchies\, highlighting eight artworks echoing this met aphor while underlining a tension and resistance to the rules of classific ation and codification flattening the city and its scales of representatio n. The artistic proposals open spaces for new interpretations\; a dialogic al context in which present\, imaginary and emergent histories/narrations are collected\, visualized\, remembered and also erased from our daily liv es. Besides the selection of artistic positions articulating the exhibitio n?s discourse\, the curatorial strategy of this project reflects on the me thod of cultural mapping as a cultural inquiry and as an inherently interd isciplinary research phenomenon: a combination of hybrid\, mixed\, multimo dal or alternative discourses using the map and its associated texts as le gitimate forms for academic and public inquiry\, cultural advocacy\, and k nowledge mobilization.[1]Departing from this phenomenon\, we find the part icipatory aspect of »cultural mapping« as a platform for people to meet\, sh are (and deal with) the central questions regarding their space and the co nstruction of meaning together particularly interesting\, providing an opp ortunity for the articulation and negotiation of multiple agendas related to the multiple dimensions of culture. ?Sharing technical knowledge\, info rmation\, and communal space can expand understanding and mutual respect\; shared interpretation of space has revealed the layering and interweaving of place-making thus introducing the notion of how identities constantly change over time?.[2]»Mapping Berlin« is a concept developed by Andrzej Rasz yk and evolves from previous projects around the subject of data and histo ry visualization researched by the Berlinerpool Arts Network curatorial te am (Andrzej Raszyk &\; Paz Ponce). For this occasion\, the curators inv ited eight Berlin-based artists from its network to present eight pieces f or the exhibition\, as well as three guest contributors for the participat ory events program.Exhibiting artists are: Roland Fuhrmann\, Michael Johan sson\, Margret Holz\, Christine Kisorsy\, Katrin von Lehmann\, Sara Wallgr en\, Marcelina Wellmer\, Sencer Vardarman.Contributions to the events prog ram by: Rebecca Agnes\, Stefania Migliorati and Ame Zek.Berlinerpool?s cur atorial trajectory in the past three years centered its efforts on the cre ation of an »archive of now«: shaping a network of active professionals (art ists\, curators\, and managers of artist run initiatives) involved in the daily making of art in the city. Understanding archiving as a collective p roject and as an architecture of encounter\, Berlinerpool?s program focuse s on developing and testing experimental forms of mediation\, based on coo perative and interdisciplinary working methods\, supporting processuality and ongoing research as an axis to actively engage and mobilize people\, p rojects and ideas through local and international collaboration.The organi zation?s previous experiences include: »Pflegeanweisungen ? The art of livi ng together« (Galerie Wedding\, 12.12.2014-24.01.2015\, curated by Paz Ponc e and Andrzej Raszyk)\, an exhibition and research project mapping the coo perative culture of artist advocacy groups in Berlin presented as an (eco) system of care in itself cultivating models of working and living togethe r in Berlin?s socio cultural environment. And Mapping Contemporary Concern s\, a series of panel discussions emerging from the need to discuss curren t issues that are present in the Berlin art context raising the question o f whether we can speak of a potential »vocabulary« inherent to Berlin?s art production\, in terms of medium\, approaches\, subjects\, materials or sou rces the makers are dealing with and are driven by.For the present researc h around the subject of cultural mapping as a method of culture inquiry\, »Mapping Berlin« follows the genealogy of previous efforts undertaken by tea ms of trained sociologists and political scientists (Institut für Strategieentw icklung ?
