DESCRIPTION:The frightening images of the devastating Australian bushfires
going around the world these days are quite overwhelming. It can feel a bi
t hopeless\; watching the news while being so far away\, trying to imagine
the scope and magnitude of the problem\, coming to grips with the long-te
 rm impacts for people\, property\, flora\, fauna.We don?t want to just wat
ch anymore. We want to help. We're too far away to volunteer with the fire
service\, or rescue wildlife\, or offer homes to displaced evacuees. What
we can do is what we do best: singing together\, standing in solidarity wi
th one another\, spreading the hope that is built on communities of people
with big hearts.Join your voice and your wallet with ours\, at a special
ok!choir Pop Up Night supporting those impacted by the Australian bushfire
s.ok!choir Pop Up nights are open for anyone to attend - no choir or singi
ng experience is necessary. We learn a whole song in one night and finish
with a tiny performance for the camera. As well as singing\, you'll get to
hear stories from Australians living in Berlin\, about what's going on ba
ck home\, and about their experiences and connections with the Australian
landscape.ok!choir director &amp\; Aussie Claire Coleman will teach us ?Be
ds Are Burning? by Australia?s own Midnight Oil in 3 part harmonies. While
the song's key question 'how can we sleep while our beds are burning?' is
pertinent to global governmental inaction on climate change\, it was orig
inally composed to acknowledge white Australia's history of marginalising
and exploiting Indigenous Australians and their land. Since land exploitat
ion contributes to climate change around the world\, and marginalised comm
unities are often disproportionately affected by environmental catastrophe
\, the song's relevance to this moment is multifaceted. It's a song that h
as space for sadness\, and anger\, but it also celebrates Australian lands
capes and calls with hope and determination for change.100% of the proceed
s of this Pop Up will be donated to firefighting and bushfire relief servi
ces\, and distributed among organisations working in the hardest hit areas
of the east coast\; the Queensland Rural Fire Service\, the Victorian Bus
hfire Appeal\, and WIRES\, a NSW based wildlife rescue organisation. The ev
ent will take place at wonderful Cassiopeia on RAW Gelände. Cassiopeia will
also donate their proceeds made with every sold drink. Amazing!Come by\, s
ing with us\, have a drink\, donate what you can\, reach your arms out acr
oss the oceans.------Find out more about the organisations that we would l
