DESCRIPTION:Leben. In Diktaturen.
störbaren Potentiale des zeitweise seiner Entscheidungsfreiheit beraubten Men
schen. Es we
in Berlin Musikwissenschaft. Ahoi LampedusaThe fate of the over 300 refuge
es who perished just off the coast of Lampedusa is already yesterday's new
s.Yet this and other similar tragedies bring the desperate plot of refugee
s into the mainstream.Unfortunately\, it seems the only way to attract att
ention is when large numbers of people die in avoidable circumstances. For
most Europeans\, they will find the story of someone who was forced to lea
ve everything familiar behind to assure their survival in their own family
histories and their grandparents' generations experienced this first hand
. Yet this issue is not a factor in most people's daily lives. What affect
might this have on those who had relatives on the aforementioned boat? Eve
ryday\, they read or hear or see stories about those who desperately try t
o make it to these shores\, safely. What do we know about their perspectiv
e?What factors\, other than courage\, come into play?Aren't those who surv
ive the passage duty-bound to help others since they are already comfortab
ly ensconced in a 'life in paradise' in Europe?I have been aware of these
stories for the last 12 years and given the fates of those brothers and si
 sters\, both here and there\, much thought.My performance is a one-woman-s
how\, a tribute both to Lampedusa and to all refugees\, all over the world
. It is also an accusation aimed at those who have lacked the courage to h
elp refugees. Above all\, to each of those souls and their individual stor
ies. A Performance by Yergalem Taffere\n\nViel Spass wünscht Gratis-in-Berlin\n
