DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n20.06.2013 - 29.06.2013Robert BodnarCHRONORAMACurated by
 Julia HartmannOpening: Wednesday\, 19th June 2013\, 7pmOpening hours: Wd/T
 h/Fr 2 - 7pm\; Sa 12 - 7pm and after appointmentTime has multiple manifest
ations.&nbsp\;In CHRONORAMA the artist Robert Bodnar will showcase a spect
rum of time in his experimental photographic works for the first time outs
ide Austria. In the solo-exhibition at RETRAMP Gallery the socalled ?Time
Scans? will show Bodnar?s attempt of capturing the passing of hours and ev
en days on one single image.Hence\, Robert Bodnar?s ?Time Scans? can be ta
ken literally. The course of time gets scanned\, each minute presented thr
ough one stripe\, row by row on photographic paper. Bodnar thus makes poss
ible what the naked eye cannot ? being able to freeze the chronological su
ccession of events taking place on lively places\, to juxtapose thousands
of moments and movements\, and to linearly read past\, present and future.
He has perfected a customizable virtual camera and a software with which
he is able to combine long exposure\, multiple exposure and the idea of sl
it scan in a new way. By means of these photographic techniques thousands
of images are compressed onto one single image\, providing an index of tim
 e. His ambition is to pose the question of what is more real: the (subject
ive) human or the (seemingly) objective machine-made perception of reality
?&nbsp\;The exhibition CHRONORAMA will showcase some of Robert Bodnar?s ea
rlier works\, as well as his latest ?Time Scan? which was specially produc
ed for this solo-show in Berlin. The photograph was taken during the entir
e electronic festival Urban Art Forms in Austria and is archiving the proc
edures before\, during and after the event. He will further attempt to vis
ualize his photographic approaches towards scanning time through installat
ion-based works in the gallery space for the first time.Robert Bodnar (*19
80 Prague\, CZ)Lives and works in Vienna (Austria). In 2011 he graduated i
n Photography from the Academy of Fine Arts\, Vienna under Matthias Herrma
nn\, Eva Schlegel\, and Harun Farocki. In 2006 he won the ?Baume &amp\; Me
