The Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine has led to a dramatic increase in the number of political prisoners being held in Russia. Sending letters to political prisoners is more than an act of solidarity, it can be a ray of hope and contribute to the safety of prisoners. Join us and make a difference. We provide all materials, visitors donate warm words. Lena Ash's embroidered portraits of women, who were held as political prisoners inspired this event. Take your time.

chair-2-chair / contemporary positions on portraiture is dedicated to the portrait at Berlin ArtWeek 2023, each in its own way.
A portrait represents more than the person portrayed and often more than its creator. The face can be a window to history or a window to the soul. A facade to hide behind. The portraits presented by the 2chairs artists are classic, abstract, wearable, reduced to circles and intersecting lines, composed on textiles, reduced to the bare minimum or turned into emotions devoid of human traits.

The 2chairs Collective eV was founded in 2023. It represents international Berlin-based artists who have found success in another career and later made art their full-time occupation. Some members are still sitting on two chairs professionally, others are bouncing back and forth between them.
