Dné //\\ Hör dich glücklich

When less is more and beauty can be found in the simplest things: Prague based producer Ondřej Holý alias dné works with tender piano lines and wins over not only the music critics, but also the national and international audience. Dné’s dreamy songs reflect „semi-feelings“–arriving quietly and departing without a reaction, rapidly fading memories, even though our lives are composed of them.

After four successful EPs (2009 – 2013), dné didn’t rush to publish his debut album These Semi Feelings, They Are Everywhere (2016, Majestic Casual Records), which he will present at the Czech Centre. For the musician, these years were filled with recording and subsequent erasing his music. The unlimited possibilities of electronic music became restrictions and the inexhaustible options of effects lead him repeatedly into cul-de-sacs. In his own words, he’s not able to use drum samples in a way that would please him.

He found an answer in the almost trivial sound of the piano, approved for centuries and also working well in contemporary electronic music. He combines piano melodies, that shouldn’t make us sad but give us a feeling of hope, with everyday sounds from the real world, like fingernails scratching along a table top or clapping. This was obviously a good decision, as he was awarded in one year the most important Czech music awards Apollo, Vinyl as well as Anděl and his tracks were played several thousand times.

The Czech centre presents in the event series Hör dich glücklich alternative music from the Czech Republic in a casual atmosphere that allows the audience to listen comfortably, to relax and become part of the artistic act.
