As part of the British Shorts Film Festival we will be running a workshop centred on the idea of Journey. Through screenings we will explore how mainstream and experimental film makers have long been inspired by the idea of Journeys which might be physical, mental internal or external. Those attending the workshop will then make a short film in which they will portray one section of a Berlin Journey.
The workshop will be taught in English and those attending will need access to camera and editing. We are though more interested in ideas than technology so domestic equipment is fine.
The workshop will be run by film teachers Dave Green and John Digance who have run successful academic and creative courses in the University and Community Ed. sectors in Britain, Sweden, Spain, Russia and China and will be coordinated by media worker, film maker and photographer, Julia Elger.
Students will watch and discuss short British Experimental Films about cities and journeys and several Berlin films – and make, in two days, their own journey films which explore aspects of the journey in Berlin.
