Silence is Anka Gnoth's strength- it contrasts her tender, but clear voice and is a main theme on her second record. „Silence you“ is what its title recommends and its songs come bubbling up from below the ocean, were conducted during twilight and within the inconceivable atmosphere of Baltic island Hiddensee. „Silence you“ is founded on the moment before a first chord is struck, when the electricity and lighting of a room are nearly audible. While the songs grow out of this base, they keep the orgininal moment of suspense present at all times.
Now, Anka conducts her musical pieces more openly than ever. She is influenced by nature's soundscape, curious signature sounds of words and the wide array of colours that beam inbetween any pair of opposites. For Anka, lyrics are always at the centre of importance and music is feigned around them.
George Donchev accompanies her playing double-bass and percussions, sometimes a third guest joins the duo with his or her instrument. Together the musicians create sacral soundscapes that serve as rug for Anka to sedately spread her words. Sometimes that will remind listeners of jazz, other times of chanson or spoken word performance. However, it always remains an eclectic mix of Anka's poetic, vocal and compositional skills and George's joy in experimental arrangements.
