Welcome to our exhibition 'Geisterjungen' by Lucas Ngo, who has been living in Berlin since 2020. This exhibition is a retrospective of his work from the past 2 years. Inspired by mythology and tales, his work explores obsession through ink and oil painting, combining transparency, mist, and blur in his visual language. In the French artist's aesthetic, portraits turn into landscapes, acting as repositories where memories fade away, condense, and scatter. There is a feeling of drifting that emerges from contemplating these evanescent images, the residue of encounters that trigger affect and emotions. While attempting to erase, his portraiture paradoxically opens up even more reminiscences. From intimate memories, shifting gaps emerge in space and time, mingling presence and absence around faraway figures that reveal the many forms and landscapes held deep within.
