Shortcutz Berlin - June (3 short films + Q&A) - Beyond the Binary

The last screening of this season is here and we could not end on a better note with our screening Beyond the Binary.

We will be screening three short films with a Q&A with the directors and of course, make sure to make the time to have a drink with us and the directors at Z-Bar.

Don't forget that you will be able to vote for your favorite film in the end of the screening for our 2023/2024 competition.

Every vote counts, specially as we're now at the end of the race

PROGRAM

Short #1: "Bi the Way", Amir Ovadia Steklov
Animation, 15min
Bi The Way is a short, funny, and intimate animated film about Amir’s life-journey as a bisexual cis man.
The film tells Amir’s story from early childhood until present day, highlighting his struggle to fit into binary culture making him unacceptable to the heteronormative community and invisible in the LGBTQIA community.

Short #2: "The Hidden Dimension" Ben Galster
Documentary, 4min
The Hidden Dimension is an intimate portrait of queer photographer Leo Maki. A dreamlike journey into his mind that explores the artists life in Poland, the creative process behind his work and the embrace of his own sexuality.

Short #3: "Slimane" Carlos Pereira
Fiction, 19 min
In a near future Germany, queer people become, even more, marginalized and under threat. On the last day of winter, Omar is released from prison. As a first stop he visits Ava, his best friend, who didn’t expect to see him. The world keeps falling apart and fear seems to defeat hope.

The screening will take place at the Z-Bar Berlin and will start at 20h30 but make sure to come early to save a seat.

The entrance is free as always.
