The exhibition Queen of Hearts and Knight presents life as a game. In this game, winning is not always guaranteed, but the possibility exists. Or is it? You cannot choose which cards you are dealt, but you can decide how you play them. Games and playing are ways for people to engage with the world and spend time together. They offer opportunities to have fun, develop strategies, and experience both winning and losing. Is it only the fate of a game piece to be involuntarily used to fulfill the dreams of others? Who determines the rules of the game? And what might happen if the rules are not followed?
The game continues throughout the exhibition, inviting visitors to participate. In this exhibition, plants, plant paintings, plant materials, live plants and fresh flowers play key roles.
Mariliina Valkama is a visual artist interested in the relationship between humans and plants. Ulpu Ruotsalainen is a florist.
