"Ströme" Thimios Atzakas (Oud), als Gast: Mathis Mayr (Cello)

Der griechische Oud-Spieler und Komponist Thimios Atzakas spielt eigene Kompositionen und traditionelle Stücke aus Konstantinopel auf seinem Soloinstrument, der Oud. Im zweiten Teil des Konzerts führt der Cellist Mathis Mayr selbst verfasste Stücke im Duo mit Atzakas auf. Instrumentale Improvisationen (Taksim) treten in Dialog mit rhythmischen Kompositionen. Dabei wird eine Brücke geschlagen zwischen dem traditionellen Modalsystem des östlichen Mittelmeerraumes und der zeitgenössischen Musik.

The Greek ud player and composer Thimios Atzakas will perform a concert for solo oud including his own compositions as well as a selected repertoire from the musical tradition of Constantinople. The concert will continue with a duo work based on compositions by Mathis Mayr. This musical narrative alternates instrumental improvisations (taksim) with rhythmic compositions, bridging the eastern Mediterranean modal systems with contemporary music.
