Der Jazzgitarrist Hugo Fernández und seine Band präsentieren eine Hommage an die Komponisten, die den unverwechselbaren „New Orleans Sound“ geprägt haben. Begleitet von Weltklasse-Musikern zollt er ikonischen Figuren und Pionieren Tribut, die unter Jazzliebhabern weithin bekannt sind, wie Louis Armstrong und Jelly Roll Morton. Auch weniger bekannte, aber ebenso einflussreiche Talente wie Ellis Marsalis, Alvin Batiste, James Black und Gruppen wie Galactic und The Funky Meters treten auf. Unterstützt von seinem Berliner Quintett, ehrt Fernandez das reiche musikalische Erbe von New Orleans mit einer lebendigen und respektvollen Interpretation seiner Wurzeln.

Jazz guitarist Hugo Fernández and his band present a tribute to the composers who shaped the unmistakable “New Orleans Sound.” Accompanied by world-class musicians, he pays homage to iconic figures and pioneers widely celebrated among jazz lovers, such as Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton. The program also highlights lesser-known yet equally influential talents, including Ellis Marsalis, Alvin Batiste, and James Black, as well as groups such as Galactic and The Meters (also known as The Funky Meters). Supported by his Berlin-based quintet, Fernández honors the rich musical heritage of New Orleans with a vibrant and respectful interpretation of its roots.
