Digital platforms are playing an increasingly important role in shaping the world of work — from food delivery and ride-hailing services to cleaning and courier work. But what does it mean for workers when apps, ratings, and algorithmic management determine their everyday working lives? Drawing on the Fairwork study, the event explores why platform work is often precarious, which structural inequalities it reinforces, and why these jobs in Germany are most often carried out by migrant workers. The focus will be on the everyday challenges faced by platform workers, as well as on approaches to improving their working and living conditions.
