Writers and writing teachers Katherine Angel and Julia Bell read from their new work in progress and discuss the process of developing their creative work.
Is it possible to teach writing? How can writers improve? How do you know what to write next? And what is the relationship between writing and teaching and writing and the self?
Katherine Angel is a writer and academic, author of 'Unmastered - A Book on Desire Most Difficult to Tell'. She is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Kingston University and is completing her second book, an exploration of subjectivity and selfhood in contemporary sex research. Her writing has appeared in The Independent, Prospect, The New Statesman, Aeon and The Los Angeles Review of Book and Five Dials, among others and she reviews for the Times Literary Supplement and Poetry Review.
Julia Bell is a writer and Senior Lecturer at Birkbeck London where she is the Course Director of the MA in Creative Writing. She has published three novels, most recently 'The Dark Light' and is now working on a fourth. She is also the co editor of the Creative Writing Coursebook. She divides her time between London and Berlin.
